Lecture Objectives:
1. Explain the epidemiology of the hepatitis C virus (HCV).
2. Discuss HCV screening among women of childbearing age.
3. Descrive HCV care during pregnancy.

Presenter Bio:
Tram Tran, MD, FACG, is Medical Director of Liver Transplantation at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and Professor of Medicine at Geffen UCLA School of Medicine. Dr. Tran has broad research interests in the areas of viral hepatitis B and C, liver disease in pregnancy and liver transplantation. She is an internationally recognized expert and NIH-funded researcher in the field of chronic hepatitis B, and is active in patient and community advocacy on hepatitis B prevention and treatment. She has authored and co-authored numerous abstracts, papers and chapters in these fields and published in journals such as Hepatology, NEJM and the Journal of Hepatology and Liver Transplantation. Dr. Tran is an active member of numerous professional organizations including the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases (AASLD), American College of Gastroenterology, and the American Gastroenterological Association, and serves on the AASLD Hepatitis B SIG Steering Committee and as Vice-Chair of the AASLD Practice Guidelines Committee. Dr. Tran earned her medical degree at New York Medical College and completed her internship and residency in internal medicine at Cedars-Sinai, where she twice received the Leo G. Rigler Award for clinical excellence. She then went on to complete fellowships in gastroenterology and hepatology/liver transplantation at University of California, Los Angeles and Cedars-Sinai. She has been named a US News & World Report Best Doctor, Castle-Connelly Top Doctor, and Los Angeles Magazine Top Doctor.
