The NPA is seeking nominations for Nurse Practitioner of the Year and Student Nurse Practitioner of the Year. Award recipients will be honored at The NPA's Annual Conference on Saturday, October 21 at the Saratoga Hilton, Saratoga Springs, NY.

Nurse Practitioner of the Year  

An individual who is a current member of The Nurse Practitioner Association New York State for at least one (1) year and who is eligible for certification to practice as a nurse practitioner in New York State, and who meets one (1) or more of the following criteria:

  • Demonstrated contribution to the advancement of Nurse Practitioners through excellence in clinical practice.
  • Volunteer/Community service that exemplifies the profession at either the local, state, national and/or inter-national levels.
  • Research with relevance to NP clinical practice, education or public policy that has been published in a journal or textbook.
  • Advancement and promotion of health services in under-served areas in New York State.
  • Active involvement within The NPA at the Local/Regional and/or State level that has resulted in a tangible impact and contribution to the mission of the Association.
  • Promotion of the profession through outstanding leadership, mentoring, and/or education. 

 

Nurse Practitioner of the Year award recipient will receive the Annual Conference registration fee waived (excluding any learning lab or meal fees) and 3 nights stay at the conference venue.  

 

Student Nurse Practitioner of the Year  

This award is presented to an NPA student member that exemplifies educational excellence both academically and clinically as well an understanding of the role The NPA plays in a student’s education.

 

Criteria for nomination:  

  • Currently is not licensed as a nurse practitioner
  • Currently a student in a CCNE/NLN accredited NP program
  • Current student member of The NPA for a least 3 months
  • A cumulative GPA of at least a 3.5 on a 4.0 scale
  • Demonstrated clinical excellence  

 

Students will also need to submit a 500 word essay on the role The NPA plays in a student's education including the importance of maintaining membership in The NPA. Essays need to be submitted by email to Sue Hubbard at shubbard@TheNPA.org by the deadline date of July 1, 2017.  

 

Student Nurse Practitioner of the Year awards recipient will receive the Annual Conference registration fee waived (excluding any learning lab fees) and 1 night stay at the conference venue.   

 

Deadline for submission for Call for Awards is July 1, 2017.
