The Nurse Practitioner Association REGION 6 is looking for the following positions to be filled, terms to begin on January 1st, 2027. Nominations is extended through August 31st 
ELECTED POSITIONS:
1. President elect (3-year term - president elect, president, immediate past president)
2. Treasurer (2-year term)
3. Bronx Borough Representative (2-year term)
4. Staten Island Borough Representative (2-year term)
5. Brooklyn Borough Representative (2-year term)
6. Nominating Chair (1-year term)
APPOINTED POSITIONS (BY THE BOARD) 1. Teaching Day Chair (2-year term)
2. Membership Chair (2-year term)

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:
Serving on the Board of a major state organization requires knowledge, experience, skill, leadership, temperament, and a commitment of time. While it is recognized these characteristics are important for all candidates to possess, qualifications to hold a board position shall also be guided by the current and future needs as defined by the Region 6 Board, that are aligned with the mission, vision and values of The NPA.

THE NOMINEE OF THE EXECUTIVE POSITIONS MUST BE A REGULAR OR RETIRED MEMBER OF THE NPA FOR A MINIMUM OF THREE (3) CONSECUTIVE YEARS.
OTHER NOMINEES SHOULD BE A REGULAR OR RETIRD MEMBER FOR AT LEAST ONE (1) YEAR
1. Demonstrated leadership and experience at either the national, state, region and/or group levels which at minimum includes
2. Served previously as an officer, director, or committee chair at either the national, state, region, or group level; and,
3. Active participation at the national, state and/or local levels (e.g., membership, NPA conferences, local Region/Group meetings, and other Association events such as Advocacy Day, etc.).
LEADERSHIP EXPECTATIONS ON THE BOARD INCLUDE:
1. Supporting diversity and inclusiveness
2. Delegating authority while retaining accountability for governance
3. Willingness to resolve conflicts
4. Strong writing and verbal communication
5. Willingness to venture in new directions to ensure the viability of The NPA
6. Listening to the voices of others
7. Making hard decisions and accepting the consequences of chosen actions
8. Strong collaboration skills
9. Participating in succession planning
10. Adhering to Board policies
11. Maintaining high ethical standards
12. Support of NPA programs
WILLINGNESS TO COMMIT TIME AND RESOURCES IN FULFILLMENT OF BOARD GOALS AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDING:
1. Attendance of on-site or virtual board meetings at least 3 times in its entirety annually.
2. Reading and responding to all Region 6 email correspondence within two (2) business days.
3. Participation on conference calls as the need may arise.
4. Attendance at Region 6 Teaching Day, NPA annual conferences and other Region 6 Board functions.
5. Recruitment of new members to The Region 6 Board.
6. Encourage members to attend NPA events such as the Annual Conference, Advocacy Day, NYS Fair, etc.
7. Participation in the substantive work required to achieve board goals.
8. Assist with the Nurse Practitioner of New York State Committee (NP of NYS PAC) fundraising activities.
POSITION DESCRIPTIONS:
President-Elect - During the absence or disability of the President, the President-Elect shall perform the duties and exercise all of the powers of the President. The President-Elect shall perform such other duties as the President may from time to time prescribe.

 

Treasurer - The Treasurer shall have the custody of the corporate funds, securities, evidences of indebtedness and other valuable documents; keep full and accurate accounts of receipts and disbursements in the corporate books. The Treasurer shall serve for a term of two (2) years. The Treasurer disburses the funds of the Region as may be ordered or authorized by the Board and preserves proper vouchers for such disbursements; renders to the Region President and Board at the regular business meetings of the Board, or whenever they require it, an account of all transactions as Treasurer and of the financial condition of the Region. The Treasurer shall render a full financial report at the annual meeting of the Region and provide written updates about receipts and disbursements at Board of Directors meetings. The Treasurer shall render a full financial report of the Region to the Association no later than the end of the second quarter of the calendar year following the close of business on December 31 of the previous year. 10 The Treasurer shall perform such other duties as from time to time may be prescribed by the Board or the Region President. The Treasurer shall preside over all Finance Committee functions.

Teaching Day Coordinator- In accordance with the mission and vision of the NPA of New York a teaching day will be held annually for the Region 6 members to continue their education using Evidence-Based Practice. The Region Board will appoint the teaching day chair. The chair will serve a two year term and shall serve a maximum of two terms. Members of the Teaching Day Committee are appointed by the Chair and consist of a minimum of three members. The Committee will work with the Board regarding executing the teaching day event and all responsibilities within.

Membership Chair- The Membership Committee, headed by a Membership Chair who shall serve on the Board, is responsible for keep an accurate record of the names and addresses of all members of The NPA Region 6 and provide an updated list to the Treasurer and to each member of The NPA Region 6 Board of Directors at least quarterly.
The Meeting Committee, headed by a Meeting Chair who shall serve on the Board, is responsible for establishing monthly meetings for the various geographic groups around the Region to encourage networking and professional development. The Committee shall include a member of each geographic group to ensure that all members can participate.

 

Group Representatives- Each Borough Representative shall serve two-year terms and shall serve a maximum of two terms. The Borough Representatives are tasked with planning, coordinating and executing continuing and networking events for the membership of their boroughs. They shall serve as the local coordinators of a group events such as dinner meetings or other programs in their respective boroughs. They will be in direct communication and report to the Educational Program Director.

 

Nominating Chair - The Nomination Committee: - Shall provide a slate of candidates for the upcoming term to the Region board and members via the NPA website and at regular meetings. Shall solicit and receive nominations for all Region 6 vacant positions. Shall review all applications for completeness and ensure that applicants meet eligibility requirements as set forth by the Region’s nominations policy. Shall develop a slate of candidates for open positions and present them to the Region board on or about the September meeting. The committee chair shall communicate the open position to the Administrative Coordinator of The Nurse Practitioner Association of New York State to be posted on the NPA website for all members to review. The committee prepares the slate of nominees, and presents them to the Board. If more than one application is submitted for the same position, the members of Region will vote on the slate. Voting shall be carried out electronically. The committee shall notify the Region board and all nominees of the election results. The committee shall preserve records of each election for a period of two years after results are reported to the Region board.
