The NPA is committed to providing a culturally diverse educational environment and equal opportunities for all members. Applications from veterans, individuals with disabilities, women, minorities, and members of other underrepresented groups are strongly encouraged.

 Regular Member

Any nurse practitioner who holds or is eligible for nurse practitioner certification by the State of New York.

 First Year NP

Any nurse practitioner who joins The NPA within one year of graduation from an NP school, or within one year or receiving their initial certification, shall receive a "First Year NP" discount of $100 off the full "regular" member rate. All the benefits of regular membership but at a reduced rate for the first year. Member applicants may be asked to provide a diploma or transcript showing a graduation date no more than one year prior to the join date. This membership is good for one year only.

 

 Student Member

A registered nurse seeking New York State certification as a nurse practitioner enrolled in a nurse practitioner program registered  with the New York State Education Department or a program determined by the Board (i.e., out-of-state program) to be equivalent to a registered program. 

Please note: If you are a Nurse Practitioner who is returning to school for an additional NP specialty or your DNP you do not qualify as a student member since you already hold a NYS NP license. The NPA office will verify with the NYS Office of Professions whether or not a new student member holds a NP license. If a new student member is licensed they will need to join as a Regular member. Auto renew is not an option for this member type.

 Retired Member

Any retired nurse practitioner who is no longer practicing and gainfully employed as a nurse practitioner and who supports the purposes of the Association. Auto renew is not an option for this member type

 Affiliate Member

Any person who supports the purpose of the Association and does not qualify for any of the above listed nurse practitioner  membership types. Auto renew is not an option for this member type. Affiliate members are subject to approval and additional information may be requested. In the event the affiliate member is not approved any payment processed will be refunded.

Benefits of an Affiliate member: As an Affiliate member you will receive The JNPA, The Journal of The Nurse Practitioner Association New York State and Insights, our monthly e-newsletter. Affiliate members are not eligible for any other member benefits, resources, services or discounts and will not have access to member information for marketing or any other purpose.

Membership dues are non-refundable. 

Non-profit Status: The New York State Coalition of Nurse Practitioners, Inc. (d/b/a) The Nurse Practitioner Association New York State (The NPA) is a New York not for profit corporation. The NPA has received tax-exempt status from the Internal Revenue Service under section 501(c)(6) of the Internal Revenue Code. Under the Internal Revenue Code, The NPA may endorse political candidates and advocate for positions on public policy issues that affect the nurse practitioner profession in New York. The NPA advises its members that 12% of their individual membership dues are spent on lobbying expenses and that this amount is not tax deductible as a business expense on the member's individual or business tax return.
