Mary Ann Cresanti, FNP passed away on March 9, 2010 peacefully at her home after a brief illness. Born in Amsterdam on February 27, 1928, the daughter of the late Joseph and Lucy Cassandro Cresanti, she was a graduate of Wilbur H. Lynch High School and later St. Mary's Hospital School Of Nursing. She later entered the Community of the Sisters Of St. Joseph of Carondelet and worked at the former St. Joseph's Home in Troy. She served as a nursing supervisor at St. Mary's Hospital in Amsterdam. She later graduated cum laude from D'Youville College in Buffalo and went on to earn a degree as a nurse practitioner from Wayne State University specializing in family health. Mary Ann served as assistant director of nursing services at Samaritan Hospital in Troy and the Whitney Young Health Center. For 15 years, she was consultant for nursing community services for the State of New York and supervised home health care services. She remained as a practice issue consultant for the Nurse Practitioner Association New York State (NPA) until her recent illness. Mary Ann was a member of the board of directors of the New Dimensions In Health Care, St. Mary's Hospital Alumni Association,American Cancer Society Task Force and the Kappa Gamma Pi National Honor Society. She was a parishioner of St. Ambrose Roman Catholic Church in Latham.
